Mary, Mary where you going to?

I’ve gone a bit gaga over cross-stitch at present… can blame the girls at Blackbird Design for providing a freebie chart awhile back which I finished for Mum and enjoyed so much I started again for me.

So have spent a couple of weeks finding freebie cross-stitch charts and stitch-alongs.  Have started the Isabelle Haccourt Vautier Grand Marquoir – though it’s going to take me forever – I’ve stitched the H and crown in the bottom right hand corner of part one – but 3 parts have been published so far!

But, I’ve always loved the Quaker style cross-stitches, probably because the motifs are similar to motifs used in quilting, baskets, birds stars etc.   So imagine how exciting it was to find that Needleprint are offering a chart for the Mary Wigham Sampler from the Ackworth School as part of a nine week stitch along!

048 Mary Wigham

Have ordered fabric and threads from Stitches and Spice, was hoping they’d arrived at work on Thursday so I could start over the weekend, but alas, no!  Hopefully they’ll be there when I arrive on Tuesday.   Am not using the DMC threads but ordered a selection of Gentle Art Sampler Threads from the Shaker Range based on the colours in the photograph.   Probably completely different from the DMC shades, but not too fussed about it being exact!

  1. great to hear of a new member to the Isabelle Vautier SAL. Loads of stitchers are joining in late – so don’t worry, you won’t be the only one trying hard to catch up ^^

  2. You will really enjoy stitching the Grand Marquoir, and once you get started those squares work up quite quickly. Looking forward to seeing your fabric/thread choice for Mary Wigham. Claire93 and I are starting a SAL on South Seas Lace soon if you’re interested….
